Unlike a regular check, a cashier's check pulls funds directly from UMCU's account, not your personal account. This means UMCU guarantees the payment, ensuring that your transaction is backed by the credit union, not the check writer.

Cashier's checks also come with enhanced security features to help prevent risk, theft, or fraud, giving you peace of mind knowing your transaction is secure.

Signature Guarantee Services

A signature guarantee, sometimes called a Medallion Stamp, is an important form of authentication provided by financial institutions to verify the legitimacy of a signature in certain financial transactions. This guarantee ensures that the signature on a document is valid and authorized. UMCU offers signature guarantees on values up to $500,000. Our service ensures peace of mind in your transactions with added security for both you and the receiving party. The fee for a signature guarantee is $10.00. 

Some common situations where a signature guarantee might be required include:

  • Transferring ownership of securities
  • Transferring stocks to a family member
  • Transferring a 401(k) to a new job
